We will explore the intrinsic relationship between human beings and nature throughout time.
We will observe examples of contemporary African tribes and their direct connection between movement,
music, and rituals with the natural environment. Finally, we will establish a link and comparison with the
relationship of capoeira and its possible origin in the zebra dance in Angola.

CHAPTER II
This chapter delves into the 17th century to expose the causes and consequences of slavery in
Africa and the subsequent transfer of enslaved Africans to Brazil. It will highlight the African origins and
characteristics of the movements, music, and rituals that the slaves brought with them to the Brazilian
coasts, laying the foundations for a rich cultural heritage."

CHAPTER III
We will tell the story of how the escape of slaves gave rise to the quilombos in Brazil, how these
communities grew, and how their inhabitants, coming from diverse African origins, developed ways to
defend themselves against recapture. We will look for the connections between these survival strategies
and the defensive and evasive characteristics that we find in capoeira.

CHAPTER IV
This chapter explores the development of capoeira within the historical context of the First Brazilian
Empire, the revolutions, and the economic model of the nascent Brazilian state. It will analyze how, amidst
revolts and wars, capoeira was relegated to clandestinity, transforming into a forbidden art.

CHAPTER V
This chapter explores how capoeira emerged as an educational discipline from its institutionalization
with the creation of the academies of Mestre Bimba and Mestre Pastinha. This process was fundamental
for its decriminalization and for the consolidation of a pedagogical vision with teaching methodologies.

expression that integrates movement, music, and history.
